I like to cook and so I do it often. Not knowing how to cook simple things seems quite strange to me. I have this co-worker who says she doesn't like cooking because she doesn't understand how to know when things will be ready. I try to explain it to her, but I think she's hopeless. That makes me think that there are probably people like that out there who will need a recipe to know to cook things that seem very simple to someone who cooks on a regular basis. Therefore, I bring you a recipe for mashed potatoes below!:
Mashed Potatoes
3 medium sized potatoes
Dash of salt
1/4 cup of milk
1 tablespoon of butter
Peel the potatoes.Cut potatoes into similar sizes. Please note: The bigger the pieces are, of course the longer they will take to cook. I cut mine into approximately 1 inch x 1 inch sized cubes.
Put into a pot. Fill the pot with water - enough to fully cover all potatoes. Add a dash of salt to the water. Put on the stove at medium - medium high heat. Allow to boil for approximately 10 minutes. When they are soft enough to easily poke with a fork, they are done. Drain the water from the potatoes. I put the potatoes back into the pot and mash there, but feel free to mash in a bowl instead - whatever is easiest for you! Add milk and butter. Mash with potato masher until fully incorporated. Serve.
